Amending the Law on Employment Relationship to declare Sunday a day of rest in North Macedonia next year

The creation of predictable business surrounding is one of the most important subjects for any businessman and, therefore, the Government of North Macedonia, before adopting any legal or sub-legal decision, will continue with an open discussion and consultations with the business sector in order to promote the business surrounding and to secure predictability and sustainability of economic flows.

This was stressed by Deputy Prime Minister Fatmir Bitiqi last week, at the regular session of the Commission for Public-Private dialogue, where the Government’s representatives were having a discussion with the members of four of the biggest economic chambers in Macedonia and MASIT, members of the Platform for Public-Private Dialogue. The representatives of the business sector were acquainted with the draft-changes in the Law on financial aid for investments, the Law on Labor Relations including certain proposals for legal amendments related to the minimal threshold for basic for payment of salary reduction contributions and property tax.

The Minister of Labor and Social Policy, Jagoda Shahpaska, informed about the activities around the preparations for the amendment of the Law on Labor Relations (ZRO), the changes that refer to “Sunday, a non-working day” including the adjustment of the minimum wage. She stressed that the legal amendments will enter into force on the 1st of January 2022 and this will also apply to the amendments in the Law on Property Tax.
