All draft-amendments change the Constitution adopted, a public debate follows

After a three-day debate, Parliament adopted the four draft amendments to amend the Constitution in accordance with the Prespa Agreement between Macedonia and Greece.

Tomorrow, the public debate on the four draft amendments, which is scheduled in five days, are set to begin, after which the Government will have to formulate proposals for the amendments and then return to be adopted.

Regarding the text of the proposal for the amendments to the Constitution, the proposer, MPs, working bodies and the Government who are not proposers, can submit amendments no later than eight days before the session in Parliament, on which the amendments to the Constitution will be adopted.

Yesterday in Zagreb, Prime Minister Zaev was confident that the process in Parliament will be successfully completed and that it will enable fast accession for NATO membership of Macedonia and the start of accession negotiations with the EU.

“I believe that by the end of January, Parliament will support the Agreement with Greece, followed by support from Greece and the Protocol for Macedonia’s NATO membership. We believe that Croatia will be one of the first countries to sign the Membership Protocol for NATO and that Macedonia will be the 30th NATO member state,” Zaev said at a meeting with his Croatian counterpart Andrej Plenkovic.
