In “Click Plus” on TV 21, VMRO-DPMNE’s vice president Aleksandar Nikolovski at the beginning of February stated his opinion about the Ukrainian conflict. According to him, when Macedonia has no clue how to act foreign policy-wise, then it should look up to the USA and its actions. Thus, he pointed out that North Macedonia should stand by Ukraine and NATO.
Nikoloski said that no one would benefit from a military conflict, but also that no one in the 21st century expected to talk about a potential great war in Europe again. He said he was hoping that diplomacy will be able to overcome this crisis.
“I see intensive talks between the Western allies, led by the US, and Russia. At the end of the day, I think that Macedonia has to support NATO’s stance and most of all, the US as Macedonia’s key partner,” said Aleksandar Nikoloski.
He said that Macedonia should follow the US’s foreign policy, and if that is not detrimental to this country, and in this case it is not, the country should support Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.

10 days ago before that, North Macedonia Defense Minister Slavjanka Petrovska said that this country completely supports Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. She said that the Macedonian authorities are monitoring the situation in and around Ukraine, and also commented that the stationing of Russian armed forces on the border with Ukraine is a provocative and destabilizing action.
