AJM condemns the verbal abuse by the Government against journalists

-

The Association of Journalists of Macedonia condemns the coordinated surge of verbal abuse by the Government against journalists, who, the AJM says, is directed against the freedom of the media and the public’s right to be informed.

“Such attacks are intended to intimidate and silence journalists and suppress criticism from the media. The Government wants to prevent the public from being informed of important developments in the country. Accusations by VMRO-DPMNE against the Open Society Foundation in Macedonia for allegedly corrupting journalists is a replacement of those of the previous government, who do not have the courage to face their own responsibility for the massive abuse of media for their own political purposes”, said the AJM.
