DUI leader Ali Ahmeti today in Tetovo discussed the current political situation in the country, the need for cooperation between our two countries, Euro-Atlantic integration of Macedonia and the affair with mass tapping Macedonia with Bulgarian Ambassador to Macedonia Ivan Petkov, informed the party.
Petkov informed Ahmeti on the political situation in Bulgaria after the elections and stressed that Sofia supports Macedonia’s membership in NATO and the European Union. The ambassador also stressed the need to develop good neighborly relations and the signing of a bilateral agreement between Sofia and Skopje.
Ahmeti expressed full support for the need to sign good neighborly relations agreement between Macedonia and Bulgaria and asked this process to be completed as soon as possible, without unnecessary delays. Democratic Union for Integration, as stated in the statement, believes that constructive dialogue between our two countries should be formalized as soon as possible, with an agreed memorandum between Skopje and Sofia.
DUI leader also stressed the need for support from Bulgaria in Brussels for Macedonia’s integration into NATO and the EU, but also asked constructiveness of Bulgaria and the other member states on the application of DUI for engaging the European Commission for resolving the political crisis in Macedonia.
“Stable Macedonia, integrated in NATO and the EU, represents the interests of all its neighbors and the region, but also to Brussels and the European Commission should not hesitate about delegating political team, enhanced with legal and investigative expertise, to support solving the massive wiretapping scandal in Macedonia,” said Ahmeti.
