Teachers who protest won’t receive salary for January, said Minister of Education Abdilakim Ademi, answering to a question of a MP.
– In the period of strike and when there are new requirements based on the collective agreement Article 54, item 2, the employer is obliged to pay only contributions for teachers who are on strike. Teachers are not aware that they won’t receive their full salary for this period by the Ministry of Education, i.e. the municipalities. Also, those who are not union members and are on strike are not informed that they cannot get the difference in salary. Students are not well informed and are abused in some cases, especially with the external testing because they are not allowed to enter the external testing and unfortunately this will have consequences for the students themselves and their families. MES is considering all options for students not to have any consequences from the abuse by some teachers and SONK, and we will provide them with an additional opportunity for external testing – said Ademi.
