A wolf, which was domesticated and kept as a pet, was captured last night in the Skopje neighborhood of Kozle. The wolf is currently at the Skopje Zoo, where it will be cared for and where it will live in the future, after it spends the period in quarantine under health supervision by experts.

“This evening, a wolf that was kept as a pet and was wearing a chain and a leash was spotted in the Kozle neighborhood. Following a report from concerned citizens, the Ministry of Interior intervened at the scene, and immediately afterwards the professional service from the Skopje Zoo and representatives from the city of Skopje arrived, and the wolf was successfully and safely captured,” the Skopje Zoo informed.

They say that the wolf, which probably escaped from its owner, was tame and calm, so its walk ended without consequences for the citizens.

“We appeal and remind you that keeping wild animals as pets is prohibited and extremely dangerous. Wolves are not pets and must not be kept in captivity or in inappropriate conditions. These are wild animals that have their own natural needs, instincts and behavior,” the Zoo staff stated, and appealed to citizens if they notice illegal keeping of wild animals, to report it to the competent institutions.
