A dirty start to the election campaign – broken windows and feces at party headquarters

The first day of the campaign of political parties for local elections started with damage to the headquarters of the two largest parties – SDSM and VMRO-DPMNE.

VMRO-DPMNE reported this morning that unknown perpetrators had broken the glass from the window of their headquarters in the municipality of Kisela Voda, Skopje. The party condemned the incident, and the candidate for mayor of this municipality from VMRO-DPMNE, Johan Tarchulovski, told the media that he believed it was an isolated case and that the vandalism was not the work of political opponents.

“If it can be seen the next day in the morning, it won’t be good. Our headquarters was broken today. We believe that this was not intentionally done by opponents, but that it is an isolated incident from someone who wants to harm the elections”, said Tarchulovski.

Last night, SDSM’s municipal election headquarters in the neighborhood of Aerodrom, which, according to the party, was smeared in feces.

“We are appalled by this act and the way this disgusting attack was carried out. Namely, during the night, one of our headquarters in the local community ‘Vasko Karangelevski’ was covered in feces”, said the party’s municipal election headquarters.
