“Student’s Plenum”: Come to the march without party and national symbols

-

Tomorrow at 12 am, in front of plateau University “Ss. Cyril and Methodius “, starts the second student march against the Government’s proposal to introduce a state exam for the faculties. Students will march from the plateau of University “Ss. Cyril and Methodius “, pass by the Assembly and complete the march in front of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia.

The informal student organization “Student’s Plenum” appeals to a peaceful march, without violence and without exposure of party or national symbols.

– We appeal there not to be any party and national symbols because we think it will cause controversy and will be taken in a negative sense, because they already branded us that we are from different parties, something that we definitely deny. We will continue to dissociate ourselves from any party influence and we keep our stand that this is purely a student initiative and we are all here as students, regardless of which organization, party, religion or ethnic we belong. We are here just to improve higher education and will continue to dissociate from such symbols because they want to reduce the significance of the march in that way – says Filip Manev from “Student’s plenum”.

Students expect support from students from other cities, professors, as well as high school students, with who they say that there have been no official talks.

– We didn’t have any talks with high school, but we believe that they are able to build their own opinion on the state exam and it is their constitutionally guaranteed right to protest and express their opinion, so I think they will join us at the march. We will have the support of the professors as the national exam discredits them, because the one who taught the knowledge should be the one who evaluates it – said Ana Knezhevik from “Student’s plenum”.
