1,806,336 registered to vote as referendum silence begins

At midnight tonight, the public campaign ends and the 48-hour silence before the referendum to be held on Sunday, September 30th, begins.

According to the decision adopted by the Parliament of the Republic of Macedonia, the ballot question for the referendum will read: “Are you for EU and NATO membership, by accepting the agreement between the Republic of Macedonia and the Republic of Greece?”

1,806,336 voters are registered for Sunday’s referendum. Polling stations on September 30 will be open from 7 am to 7 pm.

Tomorrow, the ill, disabled, individuals under house arrest, prisoners, as well as citizens of the Republic of Macedonia abroad will vote.

The referendum will be monitored by approximately 12,000 domestic observers and nearly 500 foreign observers.

For the September 30th referendum, 1,859 sick and disabled people were registered to vote in 69 out of 80 municipalities. In the local elections in 2017, over 5,400 sick and disabled persons were registered to vote.
