The Public prosecution for fighting organized crime and corruption has started procedures against former high-ranking officials at the Ministry of Interior and “other physical persons and legal entities” from Skopje, Kumanovo, and Strumica, that are charged for acts of crime conducted during the electoral process.
The persons, which identities aren’t revealed, are charged for misuse of their official authorizations, and the acts for which the investigations are conducted about, as informed by the Public Prosecution, were done in 2014 and 2016.
-There is a basis for suspicion that the persons have influenced the ways how people have voted by using different means at the time of the elections, which is a felony. For the purpose of determining the facts, the Public Prosecution for fighting organized crime and corruption is conducting an investigation and it is gathering reports, information and evidence – said the Prosecution’s press release.
Last week, the Public Prosecution Skopje, announced that it has started a procedure against “one person – organizer of an election campaign and other persons” including a legal entity, for a felony of misuse of assets for financing an election campaign. In that press release, the Public Prosecution didn’t reveal the names of the persons, but it is highly likely it’s about a political party.
