Zaev: There is no need for early parliamentary elections

-

Prime Minister Zoran Zaev believes in a full four-year term mandate and does not feel that there should be early parliamentary elections, but says that for such a decision, the opposition, Albanian political parties and, above all, Parliament are all important.

“You know my position, unless it is urgently needed or necessary, only then would there be elections. I believe in a full mandate, mainly because of the economy, business, all the institutions, for the citizens to be able to plan for long time after a four years mandate, which means success and development and overall growth,” said Zaev while answering journalist’s questions during the visit to Stobi.

He added that elections would be necessary if the procedure for constitutional changes in Parliament was not possible.

“Now we see that it is possible, we will continue down this path. I know that at the beginning of April or late March the presidential election begins. We will probably determine by the end of this year that presidential elections only should be held, however, I repeat, I am only one of those important for such decisions, there is the opposition, the Albanian political parties, and above, Parliament,” Zaev said.
