Zaev’s statement for the Greek Alfa TV: A solution for the name dispute by July, the red lines are an obstacle

Prime Minister Zoran Zaev, in an interview for the Greek Alfa TV said that there is a possibility for finding a solution for the name dispute by the end of the first half of 2018 and stressed that it has to be acceptable for both sides.

-I’m convinced that there is a solution and as it should, the solution for the citizens of Greece has to be announced by Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and I will have to announce it to my citizens. But, I belive that there is a possibility of finding a solution by the end of the first half of 2018 – said Zaev in the interview.

When asked about red lines, Zaev said that if there are red lines they would only serve as obstacles to finding a solution.

Zaev also expressed a wish to meet with the Minister of Defense, Panos Kammenos and the president of the biggest opposition party, New Democracy, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, but as he stressed, after the meeting with Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras for whom he said that they believe in same values.In the interview, Zaev said that the government is ready to talk about renaming the airport in Skopje, which would showcase his friendly intentions with the Greek people and repeated that Macedonia is not the only heir to Alexander the Great.
