Zaev: Headway made in three out of the seven points in the name dispute

-

From the start of the seven points in the negotiation process for resolving the name dispute, headway has been made on three points, announced Prime Minister Zoran Zaev, while answering a journalist questions during today’s visit to Negotino.

“Mediator Nimetz is leading the process; he knows what things can and can not pass. I am glad that all open issues have now been broken down. If we start from some seven positions that were the starting point for the talks, I know that it has already been reduced to four, so three have been removed”, said Zaev.

He said that they were “probably the easiest points”, but that it is an encouraging signal for both parties, and shows that it is possible to come to a resolution.

He emphasized that he still believes that there is no need for interventions in the Constitution and that it is well known where concessions can be made, and that if a solution is reached, the citizens will have the final word with a referendum.

Zaev confirmed that a name with a geographical heading is an acceptable option for the Macedonian side and pointed out that several names are mentioned.
