Zaev – Duncan: The boycott of the referendum is a boycott of the country’s future

-

Prime Minister Zoran Zaev met with British Minister of State for Europe and the Americas, Alan Duncan, and said that every individual decision to boycott the referendum is a boycott of the future of the state and of democracy, the government reports

According to the government, Duncan supported Macedonia’s integration process and encouraged the country to achieve its strategic goals, which is important for Macedonia, but also for the entire region. At the meeting, Zaev reiterated his expectation that an overwhelming majority of citizens will vote in favour of the referendum.

“The vast majority of citizens are for membership of the Republic of Macedonia in the EU and NATO, because it will bring stability and security to the country and a European standard of living. I am confident that this will be reflected in the upcoming referendum. I expect all political subjects and individuals in the country, to find the strength and rise above political interests and to respond to the obligation to vote in the referendum, in this historic moment for the future of the country,” said the prime minister.

At the meeting, they also discussed other current political and security issues on a domestic and regional level.
