Zaev asks for support from civil societies for the realization of the reform priorities

-

The Government’s intention is getting a clear reference for the beginning of the negotiations with the European Union at the end of this year, and next year there should be a date for the beginning of the negotiations for full membership. Today this was noted by the Prime minister Zoran Zaev whilst addressing at the very beginning of the thematic consultations, which was held at government with the representatives of the civil society, regarding the reform priorities and their implementations.

The Prime Minister pointed out that the Government provided a positive political ambience for implementing those goals, and Macedonia has all the support from the European Union.

He asked for a support from the civil society regarding the reforms process, where he added that all society factors will be included. Rule of law, public administration reform, elections, Parliament and the independent regulatory bodies as well as the media are the five topics on which will be worked on by working groups in order to get a plan on which Government should work upon.

Zaev stressed that real goals will be set in the short term – up to three months, in the medium term – from six to nine months and in the long run – more than nine months, which, according to him, much can be achieved.

The Prime Minister also added, that a large part of it depends on the political and social wish and desire, and not just on the laws.

Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Bujar Osmani said at the meeting that this government will devote the next few months to the reform priorities and therefore has started to develop a strategic plan that will include suggestions and ideas from the civil society. Osmani said, that the goal is  quick delivery of results.

The EU integration plan will be presented to EU Commissioner for Neighborhood Policy & Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn, who will be visiting Macedonia on Monday, and his participation in a session of the Government has been announced.
