Zaev and Borisov to honour the tomb of St Cyril together on May 24th in Rome

Prime Ministers of Macedonia and Bulgaria, Zoran Zaev and Boyko Borisov, with government delegations, will honour the tomb of Saint Cyril on Thursday, May 24, in St. Clement’s Basilica in Rome, and lay wreaths of fresh flowers, reports the Government.

The Macedonian delegation will then head to the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore, where they will lay fresh flowers on the memorial plaque of Pope Adrian II, and on the same day, the Macedonian delegation will lay wreaths of fresh flowers at the monument of St. Cyril and Methodius in the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria, where both prime ministers will have a joint lunch.

On Friday, at 11 o’clock, Prime Minister Zaev and the Macedonian government delegation will be in the audience with Pope Francis at the Apostolic Palace in the Vatican, and then Zaev will meet with the Vatican State Secretary, Cardinal Pietro Parolin.

In the afternoon, the Macedonian and Bulgarian government delegations will attend the opening of a joint cultural and artistic program, organized by the ministries of culture of the two countries.
