SDSM’s leader, Zoran Zaev, announced today that as “the deadline for Nikola Gruevski’s mandate for forming a government is expiring,” he and his party will come out with a platform of their own and with opinions regarding issues concerning the new government.
Zaev said that he expects Gruevski to announce that he cannot form a government and he and SDSM to receive the mandate for its formation.
-By entering the final days of Gruevski’s mandate to form a government, which will expire on the 29th of January, probably we will be forced to announce our positions regarding these issues. I honestly believe that after the 29th of January, the mandate will be in our hands because of all arguments that are well-known to the public –said Zaev, stressing that so far they haven’t voiced their opinion on these issues because the mandate was given to Gruevski and he should announce the score.
When asked by a journalist why he still hasn’t commented the platform of the Albanian parties, Zaev said that they will state their opinion regarding that issue as well.
-We have a lot to comment about the platform and we will come out with our opinion in the forthcoming days, as Gruevski’s mandate for forming a government is coming to its end. The Albanian parties have published their platform with a concrete goal – for Gruevski to hear it – said Zaev.
He confirmed that except for Ahmeti, in the past period he had talks regarding the political situation with the members of Besa movement and the Alliance of the Albanians.
When asked about the rumours among the general public that the president Gjorge Ivanov might give the mandate again to another representative of VMRO-DPMNE, Zaev said that they are obeying the Constitution which is clear and which determines that Ivanov should hand over the mandate to the party or the parties that will confirm they can form a government.
