Yildirim: Greece should not dictate the official name of another country

-

Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim at a press conference with his Macedonian counterpart Zoran Zaev in Ankara has said that it is wrong for Greece to dictate the official name of Macedonia, but added that he hopes that the two neighboring countries will resolve the dispute in a friendly spirit, Associated Press ” reports.

“It is wrong for one country to determine the name of another country”, he said.

Zaev said the best solution is that which will pave the way for Macedonia to join NATO and the EU.

“Both, President Erdogan and Prime Minister Yildirim along with the entire government, in fact all the institutions in Turkey are great friends of the Republic of Macedonia. We have talked about this issue today. Turkey as a friend certainly supports a solution that will be acceptable to both sides. This solution is the only possible route for us to join NATO and the EU” Zaev said, when answering a journalist’s question.
