Parliament Speaker, Talat Xhaferi stated that he has not received a request to revoke the immunity of the MPs who were arrested today due to the violence in Parliament on April 27th. He said that if he received such a request, he would forward it to the competent parliamentary committee.
“If a request is submitted to me from an appropriate competent institution from the judicial authorities, I can not choose whether I will act or not, because as Parliament Speaker, I am obliged to immediately forward it to the Committee on Procedural, Mandate and Immunity Related Issues , who are competent to discuss such a request”, stated Xhaferi.
According to procedure, the Committee returns their decision to the Speaker of Parliament, who then convenes a session, where they will discuss the court’s request.
