VMRO-DPMNE claim that Zaev employed an adviser with a criminal record

Skopje, 14 May, 2018 - 20:28 (META)

Today, the opposition, VMRO-DPMNE made an accusation that among Prime Minister Zoran Zaev’s 56 advisers, there is one person, where there is no evidence that he has any expertise in the area on which he is advising. Moreover, the same individual is said to have a criminal record in which he fired a weapon at a member of the special forces at a cafe.

VMRO-DPMNE spokesperson, Dimce Arsovski named the individual as Silvio Avramovski.

“The man is unknown to the general public, but Zaev appointed him an outside adviser for economic issues and strengthening economic cooperation with the countries of the Caucasus and the Middle East. He only appears in the media as the man who was elected as a delegate at the SDSM Congress in 2011. Regarding connections to the Middle East or the Caucasus – he has none. Only his wife, Maja Avramovska-Trpevska, appears to have been an employee of a German non-governmental organization operating in the city of Tbilisi. What is even more worrying, is the information circulating in the public, that Silvio Avramovski is a man who has a police record. Therefore, we have to ask – Did the Government make the necessary checks before his employment as adviser to Zoran Zaev? Is it true that charges were filed against him because he shot at a member of the special forces in a cafe?”, said Arsovski.

He accused the Government of emptying the state treasury for party needs, and for spending half a million euros a year on wages alone for Zaev’s advisers.
