About 200 Veles citizens gathered today at the Youth Park to express their anger at Minister of Health Nikola Todorov due to the death of nine-year Tamara Dimovska.
Citizens demand Todorov’s resignation for the death of the young girl, but also for all other problems in the health department.
Dimche Velev, one of the organizers of the protest, said Todorov is only guilty of the death of Tamara.
– Todorov, you must resign. We, as citizens, demand personal responsibility from you because Tamara died because of your statement that you will cover all the costs of the operation. There are many other cases for you are to blame. Resign and leave the opportunity to improve the situation in health care. We want to tell you that, regardless of your pressures, we will not yield, but we will endure and fight for what we came here – said Velev.
Ognen Janevski, one of the participants on the protest, said the red cards show how low the level of health care in Macedonia has dropped and that Tamara died due to bureaucratic procedures.
– I have an initiative that I hope will be supported. To make a specific provision in the law which protects the rights of the insured, which is to be called “Tamara article” and which will protect all future cases of children suffering from rare diseases or have urgent health problems that must be addressed. So Tamara will be remembered, and the lives of many children will be also saved – said Janevski.
