Turkey has canceled the agreement for the recognition of Macedonian diplomas

-

Turkey has annulled the agreement with Macedonia for a mutual recognition of Macedonian diplomas on all educational levels, says “Alsat M.” The decision was already published at an official gazette in Turkey and it refers to an agreement that was signed by both countries on the 6th of July 1998 and with which Turkey and Macedonia established a recognition of diplomas on all levels of secondary and higher education.

The decision, that was made during the meeting of the Council of ministers of Turkey on the 12th of December last year, was signed by the country’s president Redzep Taip Erdogan and is coming into force on the 11th of February 2017.

So far, there hasn’t been any official reaction by the authorities in Skopje regarding Ankara’s decision.

The Minister of education and science of Macedonia, Pishtar Ljutviu, gave a brief statement for “Alsat M” that he doesn’t believe that there is a reason for canceling an agreement.
