Today the Vatican will declare Mother Teresa a Saint

Today, Pope Francis in St Peter Square, at the Vatican, will declare Mother Teresa a Saint.

The Head of the Macedonian state and church delegation at the ceremony at the Vatican will be President Gjorge Ivanov.

At the ceremony, not only will President Ivanov be attending, but the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikola Poposki, the Minister of Culture, Elizabeta Kanceska-Milevska, the delegation from the Catholic Church of Macedonia, the Ohrid Archbishopric of the Macedonian Orthodox Church, the Mayor of Skopje as well as a relative from Mother Teresa’s family.

Also attending the ceremony in Rome, will be Nikola Gruevski, Zoran Zaev and Ali Ahmeti.

On the occasion of the canonization, in celebration in Macedonia, there will be seven days of celebration under the title, “The Days of Mother Teresa”, which starts today and ends on September 11.

The first event of the celebrations in Macedonia, will be a holy liturgy which will be held tomorrow at the Memorial House of Mother Teresa in Skopje.

From September 5 – 11 there will also be a series of humanitarian activities held, of which the central event and highlight on the final day of celebrations on Sunday, September 11, at her place of birth and in her honour, the Square of Macedonia will be declared a temple.

The central event in Skopje will be led by a Cardinal who was specially delegated by the Pope.

The organisers of the celebrations in Skopje are the dioceses of Skopje, and the patron is the President of Macedonia, Gjorgi Ivanov.
