This afternoon, the SPO will file its first appeals regarding custody for the accused

-

The Special Prosecutor’s Office is expected to file their first appeals to the Appellate Court Skopje regarding their dismissed custody requests for 18 individuals, after the charges were filed last week, confirmed the SPO for “Meta”.

The appeals are from rulings made by the Basic Court Skopje I, and the SPO will be submitting them in the following next few days, in accordance with the three-day deadline, which already began after the court made its rulings, the first of which were last Friday, and the last ones, for yesterday.

The Appellate Court Skopje, after receiving them has a 48-hour deadline to rule on the appeals.

The Criminal Councils of the Basic Court Skopje rejected all 18 requests for custody filed by the SPO, and fully or partially precautionary measures were accepted against some of the defendants.

Instead of custody, the court ruled that the leader of VMRO-DPMNE and former prime minister, Nikola Gruevski, former head of his cabinet, Martin Protuger, former Ministers of Interior and Transport and Communications, Gordana Jankulovska and Mile Janakieski, former Secretary General of Government, Kiril Bozinovski, former Minister of Culture, Elizabeta Kanceska-Mileska, former Deputy Prime Minister, Vladimir Pesevski, the current Mayor of Gazi Baba, Toni Trajkovski and former director of the Administration for Security and Counterintelligence (UBK), Sasho Mijalkov, all receive precautionary measures instead of custody.

Their passports were confiscated and they have been ordered to report to the court once a week.
