Around 1000 citizens gathered today in Kumanovo, at 15:00 to protest the death of a four-year-old boy who was run over by a car at the exit of the city’s hospital. They seek justice for the young boy, Almir Aliu.
The protest took place in silence, protesters did not chant or shout, they only held a banner at the beginning of the procession, simply saying in Albanian “For justice”.
Protesters demand that the suspect who was behind the wheel of the car is held accountable in the eyes of the law.
The organizers, an NGO “Zani” (meaning Voice) asked politicians who were present at the protest to remain in the last row of the procession, and also asked them not to give statements to the media.
The protest ended in front of the Basic Court in Kumanovo.
Four-year-old Almir Aliu died on Saturday at the Clinical Centre in Skopje, due to the wounds from the car which hit him.
According to the media, the suspect hit the child with a vehicle intentionally, after a banal argument in the clinic in Kumanovo.
The suspect, in this case, has been arrested and is currently being held in a 30-day detention jail which was ruled by the court.
