The last annual address by President Ivanov will occur on the 28th of December

-

On the 28th of December, starting at noon, President Gjorge Ivanov will address the Parliament.

Ivanov has sent the request to the President of the parliament, Talat Xhaferri on the 5th of December, several days after Xhaferri during a briefing with journalists has said that the time to lodge a request is running out if President Ivanov wants to address the Parliament.

-In previous years, we would have received a request from Ivanov earlier, but this year it still hasn’t arrived yet. If he wants to address, he will have to hasten with the submission in order for a term to be provided. This is the president’s right and not an obligation, which means that he may not want to use his right this year – said Xhaferri at the briefing on the 30th of November.

This will be the last annual addressing for Ivanov as a president of the state. His mandate is expiring on the 2nd of May next year, and the presidential election will be called for most probably by the end of January or the start of February.

Ivanov has been a president for the last 10 years. He became a president after he won at the presidential election in 2009, as VMRO-DPMNE’s candidate and he won his second mandate in 2014.
