The deadlines are approaching: Gruevski has 3 days left as Prime Minister in full capacity

-

The media and the SEC are the last points in the Przhino Agreement to be addressed before the Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski resigns and the VMRO-DPMNE appoints a new candidate for the position.

In the Przhino Agreement it clearly stipulates that the Prime Minister should step down 100 days before parliamentary elections, which will be held on April 24, 2016, and the new government should be inaugurated on January 15.

PM Gruevski, if the  deadlines required by law are met and all the dates are closely observed, he “must” hand in his resignation on December 15. That, however, is one day after he is meant to give his testimony at the Inquiry Committee regarding the wire-tapping scandal, when the Prime Minister announced the delay for the first dates scheduled for December 9.

This is how PM Gruevski’s withdrawal is suppose to happen if he meets all deadlines and complies precisely with the Przhino Agreement:

  1.  Nikola Gruevski should resign on December 15
  2.  President mandates within 10 days
  3.  A new Government is designated and should be proposed, within 20 days to Parliament

This means:

  • The President gives mandate to the VMRO-DPMNE on December 25;
  • The designate mandate proposes a new government to Parliament on January 14.                                                                    These are the deadlines if all laws are followed correctly for all legal days for a decision by these institutions.

If, however, the deadlines are shortened to the maximum, it can happen on January 14.

In that case, just for a day the President would have granted their mandate to VMRO-DPMNE and on the same day the new government would be proposed, and the proposal would be submitted to Parliament for a vote.

Our sources at the SDSM say they are not interested when Gruevski will resign exactly.

As they say, in the Przhino Agreement it dictates that the new Government should be formed 100 days before elections are called.

“Whether deadlines will be met, for example, 10 days for the President to give the mandate and another 20 days to propose to Parliament a new government, it does not interest us. Whether all days are used or whether everything will be solved in a day is irrelevant. We want the Government without Gruevski in it, and to be voted on, on January 15”, according to the SDSM.

A spokesman for the VMRO-DPMNE, Ivo Kotevski said that they are trying to be constructive and to meet all the deadlines dictated by the Przhino Agreement.

“We will be keeping an eye on the deadlines because elections must be on April 24 for citizens to have their say”, said Mr Kotevski.
