Sofia, 7 November, 2017 - 11:42 (META)

Today, the Bulgarian government should submit a draft-law to the National Assembly, on the ratification of the Treaty for good neighborly relations with Macedonia.

The Treaty was signed on August the 1st, 2017, by the prime ministers of Macedonia and Bulgaria, Zoran Zaev and Boyko Borisov, however, the agreement will formally come into force once it is ratified by the Parliaments of both countries.

Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva announced that the Treaty for good neighborly relations is expected to be ratified by the Bulgarian Parliament towards the end of the week.

The Treaty envisages the progress of overall cooperation, and among other things, the formation of a committee on historical and educational issues on a parity basis, which should contribute to an objective and evidence-based scientific interpretation of historical events related to the two countries.
