The British Minister of State for Europe and the Americas, Alan Duncan, will arrive in Macedonia for a two-day visit, as part of his Balkans tour that will confirm Great Britain’s dedication to the region even after its exit from the EU.
Duncan, who is arriving with a message that a more constructive results towards the solution of the political crisis , in the next two days e will be having meetings with the Macedonian President Gjorge Ivanov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikola Poposki, leaders of the parliamentary political parties, the Special Public Prosecutor Janeva, representatives of the institutions and the civil sector.
According to his agenda, the British Minister will not be holding a press conference that would conclude the visit, but before his arrival, he stated that the Western Balkans is a key region for Britain.
-We are dedicated to having an active role as supporters. I’m very happy that my visit is part of the activities through promoting the possibilities for a future collaboration in the domains of security, prosperity and the reforms – said Duncan.
About his visit to Macedonia, he wrote on his official blog that he is coming to hear leaders of the political parties and to give a message that the United Kingdom will support each government that will work on the important reforms of transparency.
“It is important to us that both countries share democratic values and we will continue to support Macedonia in order to be a stable, safe and prosperous partner,” wrote Duncan.
Regarding the Euro-Atlantic aspirations and the current obstacle for its membership, in his blog, he wrote that determination and political decisiveness will be necessary in order for hard decisions to be made.
