Foreign investors won’t be able to buy land in the zones

-

Ministry of Economy, through amendments to the Law on free technological development zones, annuls the recent changes to the law passed last year that foreign investors, except lease of land, were allowed to buy plots in some of the free zones, reports portal “E-magazin”.

Under the proposed changes submitted to the Assembly, the previous law is reinstated, i.e. before the adoption of the recent amendments to the Law on Technological Industrial Development Zones of 31st of October 2014. This deletes all new articles concerning the procedure for transfer of land in the zones.

– For the signed contract for sale of land in the technological-industrial development zones shall apply the provisions of the Law on Technological Industrial Development Zones (“Official Gazette of the Republic of Macedonia” no. 14/2007, 103/2008, 130/2008, 139/2009, 156/2010, 127/2012, 160/2014 and 41/2014) – explained the Ministry of Economy, which proposed the recent legislative amendments.

The latest amendments to the Law on free technological development zones, the government increased the benefits offered to foreign investors in Macedonia by allowing them to buy land in the zones, even throughout the entire zone.

It was provided land to be sold at a starting price of one euro per square meter. Domestic and foreign individuals were allowed to enter the public bidding.
