Still no security certificates for the two new jurors after two and a half months in “Putsch” case

-

After two and a half months, the two new female jurors allocated to the “Putsch” case have still not received security clearance, confirmed the Criminal Court for “Meta”.

The security certificates for the two new female jurors plays a large role in setting the date for the next hearing in the “Putsch” case, in which the SDSM leader, Zoran Zaev and former director of the Administration of Security and Counterintelligence (UBK), Zoran Verushevski are defendants, and the trial has yet to begin.

At the last hearing, held on November 1, 2016, Judge Ljubinka Bašeska stated that the Judicial Council appointed two new female jurors who did not have security clearance, so the court intervened and had began the procedure for an approval for security certificates.

Bašeska said that it was difficult to tell how long the procedure for issuing certificates would take and therefore she  postponed the trial indefinitely, and the date of the next hearing would be announced later on.

This was the cause of a bitter argument between Judge Bašeska and Special Public Prosecutor Katica Janeva, who told the court that they were not allowed to delay a trial indefinitely.
