Skopje is the most polluted European city, with a very high index of pollution, report Bosnian media, citing data from the website “Numbeo”, which collects data for the cities in different categories.

The capital of Macedonia, with pollution index of 84.82, tops the list of most polluted European cities. Second is Moscow, with index 81.58, Kiev is third, while Italian industrial center Turin is fourth. From the cities in the region, Tirana is fifth, and the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sarajevo, is the twelfth city by pollution.

The data of the website “Numbeo” are based on the perception of visitors to the website.

According to Bosnian “24 info”, the main reason for this situation in Skopje is heavy industry.

24 info” adds that Skopje citizens hope that this problem will be solved systematically, and, in the meantime, they seek refuge from the polluted air on mountain Vodno, where can breathe fresh air for at least few hours.

Measuring air quality this morning shows a very high level of pollution in Skopje, Veles, Bitola, Kichevo and Tetovo, reads the website of the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning.

The measurements show a very high concentration of PM10 particles in Centar, Lisiche, Gazi Baba, as well as the area of the measuring stations Bitola 2, Kichevo, Veles 2 and Tetovo.
