-

Six people, five men, and one woman died when their “Piper” aircraft crashed this afternoon in close proximity to Skopje’s Airport “Alexander the Great” and in the area surrounding the village Kozle.

The Italian media have stated that Francesco Montagner piloted the plane and was also the President of the Aero-Club in Tresivo. Other passengers on the plane have been identified as Dario Bastasin, the Vice-President of the Club, Luca Dalel Mulle, Illaria Berti, Angelo Callegari and Visar Begaj, a Kosovan national with an Italian passport.

According to the planned route, the plane was meant to land in Skopje after Tresivo to refuel, and then continue to Pristina, however, two kilometres before the runway, the aircraft disappeared from the radar.

The investigation is ongoing, and there is still no information on what caused the aircraft to crash.
