SDSM: GDP growth of 3.1% confirms success of government economic policies

-

The 3.1% growth of the gross domestic product GDP in the second quarter confirms the success of Government economic policies and the positive impact of EU and NATO integration, SDSM said in a statement.

Furthermore, the statement adds that “moving the process of Macedonia’s integration into the EU and NATO affects the economy positively.”

“Such a process will be further intensified after joining NATO and after the start of accession negotiations for EU membership. By entering the EU, Macedonia is becoming part of a market of 500 million consumers, the Macedonian economy becomes more competitive, there will be opportunities for more investments, new jobs and stronger economic growth. Considering that in the last quarter of the ruling VMRO-DPMNE, in 2017 the economy took a drop of 1.3 percent for just over a year, while SDSM’s successful economic policies managed to stabilize the economy and move it in the right direction,” reads the statement.

VMRO-DPMNE again says that the economy has been declining for more than 15 months, that there is no real progress, and the citizens are poorer.

“The only bright spot are foreign investments, which came to the country and opened a large number of jobs thanks to VMRO-DPMNE’s good policies,” say VMRO-DPMNE.
