Satirical Facebook page with Greek “bloodthirsty” posters deleted

-

The Greek satirical page on Facebook “Elinko Cristiano Ethno Edon “(the Greek-Christian Ethno-Eye), has been closed for ten days now, following the publication of posters on February 1 and 2, which were interpreted as nationalistic by the Macedonian media, believing that the images were calling for the participation of a mass protest against Macedonia in Athens

Zarko Trajanoski claimed that the site was the source of these posters in his analysis published by “Truthmeter” that contributed to the hysteria that was created in Macedonia. He went on to explain that the posters were published as satire with grotesque humour.

According to Trajanoski, who through Facebook contacted the site’s administrator before writing the analysis, not only was the site taken down, but his interlocutor did not respond to his messages as to why the site had been deleted and who had taken it down.

Trajanoski wrote that many more photo editions were published on the page, with photo-shopped versions from old propaganda posters.

The analysis by “Truthmeter” which was also translated into English, was quoted in an article on the topic published by the Global Voices information service.
