More environmental organizations on Monday, at 17:00, before the Government building under the slogan “Come out for some air” are organizing a protest against the enormous air pollution.
“It’s time, the air we breathe takes our breath and our lives. We have no time to wait, disease and death are stalking us, our families and our children! Enough! We got together and decided to say “No”! We invite all of you who breathe, but do not want to die, to join us in protest on Monday, at 17:00 in front of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia. We are protesting against the pollution of the air! We protest and ask the authorities to take immediate measures to protect our health! Come out for some air, “said the Facebook announcement of the event.
The protest is being organized by environmental organizations “Eko Svest”, “Front 21/42”, “Eko guerrilla”, “It’s our lives,” “We deserve better,” “Air now,” “We are Karposh 4”, “Ajde”, “Stop the factory Zelezara”, “We will breathe or suffocate”, “Skopje smog alarm”, “Stop the pollution of Aerodrom and Gazi Baba” and “I love GTC”.
This morning, all measuring stations in Skopje, Tetovo and Bitola showed very high levels of air pollution, and in Kicevo and Kocani, the levels were high.
The measuring station at 9 am in Lisiche showed 185 micro-grams per cubic meter in the Centre the measuring stations showed 294 micro-grams in Gazi Baba -135, and in Karposh the measuring station is currently not working.
Last night in Lisiche cancerous PM10 particles reached 800 micro-grams per cubic meter, which is 16 times more than the allowed 50 micro-grams per cubic meter, while in Tetovo – 400 micro-grams, which is eight times more than the allowed limit.
