Parliament rejects vote of no confidence against Foreign Minister Nikola Dimitrov

-

Today, with 43 votes in favor, 56 votes against and zero abstain, Parliament has rejected the vote of no confidence against Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikola Dimitrov filed by opposition MPs from VMRO-DPMNE, who accused Dimitrov of being a career politicion.

Parliament Speaker scheduled the next meeting for tomorrow at 16:00h, regarding the vote of no confidence against the Minister of Labour and Social Policy, Mila Carova and Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy, Ljupco Nikolovski.

The focus of the afternoon part of the debate on the vote of no confidence against Foreign Minister Nikola Dimitrov, was on the Agreement for good neighborly relations with Bulgaria. Opposition MPs from VMRO-DPMNE accused the Government of making a hasty move so soon after the formation of the new government and that its decisions were detrimental to Macedonia’s national and state interests.

Former Macedonian Minister of Foreign Affairs and current MP from VMRO-DPMNE, Nikola Poposki, said that the agreement was, among other things, achieved in the country for the Government to create an atmosphere of triumph and “to force applause on the open stage”.

“We had discussions with Bulgaria for a long period of time, we looked at alternatives and consulted historians, we consulted representatives from SDSM who had the most radical views for some of these issues. The process was about 5 to 6 open issues and regarding to those issues, Macedonia and Bulgaria should protect their interest, and now we have a result which is 6: 0 in favor of the Bulgarian side”, said Poposki.
