Parliament can not elect new Constitutional judges due to a lack of quorum

-

Today, Professor and Dr. Osman Kadriu and Dr. Darko Kostadinovski were not elected as new judges in the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Macedonia because there were not enough MPs in the Parliament of the Republic of Macedonia to vote on their appointment.

At today’s continuation of the 27th session, which one of the main topics was the proposal of the President of the Republic of Macedonia for new constitutional judges, as well as other items, were postponed until Thursday, as there were only 52 MPs present in the hall today. MPs from VMRO-DPMNE were absent, and said that they were continuing with the boycott of Parliament, there colleagues who were present at the session did not address Parliament.

There was no discussion on the second reading of the Law on Languages , nor about the law on amending the Law on Labour Relations.

After less than 10 minutes of work, the Speaker of Parliament, Talat Xhaferi, interrupted the session and rescheduled it for Thursday at 12 o’clock, and then continued with the 26th session, which was to be discussed as a single point of today’s continuation of the law amending the Law on Pension and Disability Insurance, by a shortened procedure. However, due to the lack of quorum, Xhaferi soon interrupted the session and declared a break.
