With the local elections and the positive report from the OSCE / ODIHR, we have crowned chapter “3” of the “3-6-9” plan and now we are starting a new chapter that is especially important, said Deputy Prime Minister for European Affairs, Bujar Osmani.
“In a way, the next six weeks will determine the fate of the next six months, which are most important in determining the long-term perspective of the country. In the next six weeks we have to deliver legal projects in the three pillars defined in the “3-6-9” plan, that is, the judiciary, the security services and the public administration”, said Osmani, adding that the adoption of these laws will determine what kind of assessment Macedonia will have regarding its enlargement strategy, which should be announced in February, next year.
When asked for his comments on the letter from the EU ambassador, that Brussels is only reacting because the government is not focusing on priority reforms, Osmani said that they had not received formal or informal criticism from Brussels. Regarding the Law on Languages, he emphasized that the European flag was set because the Ohrid Framework Agreement is an important part of European integration and that the law will be adopted by the end of the year.
Osmani expressed hope that after the completion of the “3-6-9” plan, Macedonia will receive a date for negotiations and that there will be no plan “12”. However, he noted that the reforms will continue after this period, and did not exclude the possibility of them being more intensive if a date for negotiations is reached.
