Not only has Viktor Orbán joined the campaign in of the Russian backed former Prime Minister of Macedonia, Nikola Gruevski, but he also wanted to allow him and the rest of the former leadership, refuge in Hungary, which s entirely against the values of the EU itself, and in Hungary as well, said alarmingly Viktor Szigetvári, Chairman of the National Political Council of the “Együtt” party (Together Party) , which is a Hungarian pro-European political party, who has an MP in European Parliament, and in the last local elections in Hungary he won hundreds of council seats throughout the municipalities.
Szigetvári says that in the last few months, Orbán’s government and his party have done everything to resurrect the political career of former Macedonian Prime Minister, Nikola Gruevski.
“This plan, fortunately, did not work, but the Hungarian prime minister and several politicians participated in the campaign in Macedonia. However, Orbán failed to help the disgraced Macedonian politician, who wanted to destabilize the Balkans under Russian influence, and to achieve success in the local elections. Now, Nikola Gruevski, together with the people around him, are looking for friendship and refuge in Hungary, even though his passport was confiscated, due to accusations of corruption. The national interests of the country and its Balkan strategy are contrary, Orbán’s repressive regime would receive pro-Russian politicians in Hungary, along with members of the country’s intelligence sector. It is disturbing that the Hungarian government wants to help a Macedonian politician serving Russian interests and is on the wrong side of the European integration perspective and is against history and his own people”, writes Szigetvári.
