On the request of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the Criminal Court Skopje terminated the custody of journalist Zoran Bozinovski who was charged with criminal association, espionage and blackmail.
Basic Court Skopje I, announced today, that the ruling judge who is currently handling Bozinovski’s case, Lenka Davitkovska, at the main hearing today, accepted the Public Prosecutor’s proposal to terminate his custody.
The court stated, that instead of custody, certain precautionary measures will be taken to ensure his presence during the proceedings, as the Prosecutor requested.
The Association of Journalists of Macedonia (AJM) have repeatedly appealed several times in several months for Bozinovski’s custody to be terminated and allow Bozinovski to released and defend himself.
The owner of “Burevesnik” in 2013, was one of the suspects in the “Spy” case, but, because he was unavailable to the prosecuting authorities, the investigation against him was terminated. On April 21st, last year, he was extradited from Serbia to the Macedonia after being arrested by Serbian authorities, on the basis of an international arrest warrant, and since then, he has been in custody.
