No one to defend workers: Daily wage 400 denars, while absence fine 1,500 denars!

-

The new decision on the payment of K15 left the companies themselves to decide whether to pay or not. In practice this would mean that workers would hardly be able to hope for that money.
Although, until now, the payment of K15 was mandatory, companies found different “loopholes” how to restore the money. They paid money to the transaction account of the workers and they return them the money on hand or it was taken out of their salary.
Now they can only justify that have insufficient income or the money are planned for investments.
Who will check them?
The impression is that each measure is to the detriment of workers and in favor of employers. Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia is practically “in bed” with the government and hence there is no one to defend workers’ rights.
– Federation of Trade Unions is to blame for everything, and the government protects it and does not allow other unions to register. We, as Confederation of Free Trade Unions, cannot register because all the time they find some obstacles. My appeal to workers is not to be afraid and to form their own unions and not join FTU. Their number there is 10 to 30 thousand, and their decisions are valid for 500-600 thousand employees – says Marjan Ristovski of the Confederation of Free Trade Unions.
On the other hand, there are countless examples of violation of workers’ rights, while none of the inspections does not go on the field and did not determine the factual situation.
As an example, we will mention that in a Shtip textile factory, a daily wage of a worker is 400 denars. If he is absent, 1,500 denars will be deducted from his salary, which includes 500 denars for the daily wage (which means that the daily wage for absence is greater than the one for attendance) and 1,000 denars for the absence. Following that logic, why aren’t they paid 1,000 denars for presence? They deduct something which they practically do not pay.
Also, cards for time registration are held by employers. This means that instead of workers to register the entrance and exit, the employers do that in order to be able to do mismanagement by the number of hours and not to have to pay overtime.
– It is necessary labor inspection to go on the field and to determine working conditions. We saw what happened to two workers in “Drexelmaer” and in textile factory in Shtip – adds Ristovski.
