Mogherini and Hahn welcomed agreement reached by parties for elections on December 11

The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini and the Commissioner for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn, in a joint statement, welcomed the political agreement which was reached today between the political leaders, signatories to the Pržino Agreement.

“We welcome that the leaders of the four main political parties took a number of important decisions on the way ahead in implementing their political agreement of last year, including setting the date of the early parliamentary election for 11 December. We call on all political parties to strictly observe a credible electoral process, to allow all citizens a free choice and, after the elections, to build a government that tackles crucial reforms and works for the interests of all citizens. In the same vein, all political forces must urgently reenergize their efforts to implement the rest of the political agreement, including the Urgent Reform Priorities”, reads the joint statement and also added the that the European Union will continue its support to this process and help the country to return to its Euro-Atlantic path.

Under this agreement, the government which will organise the elections will be chosen on September 2, which is this Friday, and also on this day the new chief editor of the news desk for MTV, Santa Argirova will begin work. Also, the ad hoc body which will monitor the media during the election campaign period, now has a fifth member, and that will be journalist, Ljuljzim Haziri.

Commissioner Johannes Hahn also welcomed the political agreement through his “Twitter” account.
