Mijalkov stripped of his passport, rulings on custody for “Titanic” case expected tomorrow

-

The Criminal Councils of Basic Court Skopje I rejected the request by the Special Prosecutor’s Office to remand the former Director of the Administration for Security and Counter Intelligence (UBK), Saso Mijalkov into custody, as unfounded. He is the prime suspect in the cases “Target” and “Fortress”, which the SPO have merged into one case.

The request for custody, as reported by the Criminal Court today, was replaced with precautionary measures, i.e. Mijalkov’s passport was confiscated and he has to report once a week to the court.

The court also rejected the request for custody for the other four accused in the cases “Target” and “Fortress”, including the former director of the fifth administration, Goran Grujovski. Their passports have been confiscated and they also have to report to the court once a week.

So far, the court has dismissed all the requests for detainment made by the SPO. The SPO announced that it would appeal to the Appellate Court Skopje regarding the decisions made by the Criminal Councils.

The deadline for submitting appeals is 3 days after the ruling has been made.
