The Serbian Minister of foreign affairs, Ivica Dačić is scared to direct his chauvinistic statements towards the great powers that recognized Kosovo, so he is confronting the smallest countries in Europe, stated for “Meta” news agency representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Macedonia after Serbia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs statement where he asks why is Republic of Macedonia a member of international organizations under a reference and not under its constitutional name.
“Let’s ask Dačić why he doesn’t confront all the countries that recognized Kosovo like USA, Germany, Great Britain or their traditional ally France or Italy with which they have joint government sessions, etc. Let’s ask them why don’t they do the same acts towards the hundred countries from around the world which recognized Kosovo and why isDačić having meetings with his colleagues from these countries? Why are they negotiating with the European Union where 80% of its countries recognized Kosovo? Why is he trying to have good personal and state relations with Merkel, Hollande and May and their ministers of foreign affairs? Those are countries that were in the first wave that recognized Kosovo? Why now in the eve of the presidential elections in Serbia did he decide to confront only with the smallest countries in Europe such as Macedonia and Montenegro? Is he maybe frightened of expressing his chauvinistic statements towards the rest of the 134 countries especially towards the great powers? Definitely. Dačić could have found a more dignified way to present himself to the Serbian voters,” commented the Macedonian MFA.
Upon the request by the Macedonian MFA not to use the FYROM reference at Serbian tolls because it is insulting, yesterday Dačić gave a statement that for Serbia it is equally insulting when the term “Republic of Kosovo” is used. Also, he asked why don’t the Macedonians leave the UN, the Council of Europe, OSCE and the EU meetings, where the reference FYROM is used.
“Why sit under that name, now they have a problem with the receipt which has the same name written on it? Serbia has not changed its position on the recognition of Macedonia, however, for Serbia it is offensive and disrespectful when they say “Republic of Kosovo”, said Dačić.
Serbia’s Foreign Minister at the start of the year gave an interview for “Meta” news agency where he stated that Serbia was wrong to recognize Macedonia under its constitutional name because Macedonia recognized the independence of Kosovo. He said that in the bilateral relations with Skopje he will be using the constitutional name but multilaterally he will be using the FYROM reference, that is used by the UN and EU.
