A leadership meeting will be held at a time that suits all political entities that take part in discussions of this type of meetings. While organizing a time that’s agreeable with all concerned, the leader of the opposition may request a meeting with the prime minister, reports MIA, regarding VMRO-DPMNE’s request for an urgent leadership meeting in regard to the name negotiations.
“The Government of the Republic of Macedonia, as always, when there is significant development during the negotiations regarding the problem that the Republic of Greece has with our constitutional name, informs all concerned political entities, fully and promptly. At the same time, the Government informs the public, that is, the citizens, responsibly with full transparency”, stated the Government.
Today at a press conference,VMRO-DPMNE’s General Secretary, Igor Janushev, said that they are requesting an immediate leadership meeting, withPrime Minister Zoran Zaev and Foreign Minister Nikola Dimitrov, in the presence of President Gjorge Ivanov, after which they would announce the details and general direction in which they are moving in, concerning the name negotiations.
After the meeting which took place near Athens, between the foreign ministers of Macedonia and Greece, Nikola Dimitrov and Nikos Kotzias and UN mediator in the negotiations, Matthew Nimetz who said afterwards the talks were serious, but with positive moments.
The foreign ministers are expected to inform their respective prime ministers ahead of the Summit in Sofia, where the two prime ministers will meet on 17 May.
