“Kathimerini”: Athens to stick to strategy to support the unified state of Macedonia

-

The Greek daily newspaper “Kathimerini” in an analysis of the situation in Macedonia stressed that this political crisis is one of the worst moments for the country since the conflict in 2000 and that the state is facing the serious risk of collapse.

The newspaper comments that the Greek government is distancing themselves from the political and inter-ethnic tension in the state, but also stresses that officially, Athens mustn’t follow ideas for the collapse of Macedonia, as was proposed by American Congressman Dana Rohrabacher, but to keep supporting the state.

“What will happen if all turns into dust and ashes in the Balkans? These are serious matters and it would be best for Athens if it remains to its strategy to give support for a unified state of FYROM. The evaluation that this country on our northern borders would had to be invented if it didn’t exist and  we would have to provide guidance for Greek foreign policy. Those that have the least amount of (political) mind can understand why is that so,” wrote “Kathimerini” in their analysis.
