Janeva: We have entered UBK with a court order to find out who conducted the wiretapping

-

Today, the Special Public Prosecutor, Katica Janeva with her whole team entered the Administration for Security and Counterintelligence (UBK) and from there, she announced that she would not leave until she and her team have finished their job.

“We have entered the Administration for Security and Counterintelligence to finally find out who actually conducted the wiretapping, whether it was the UBK or foreign services”, stated today Special Prosecutor Katica Janeva from outside the Ministry of Interior.

Janeva said that the cooperation with the UBK had been difficult.

“We have entered the UBK to take the orders for all those issued with PI measures and all the material which was recorded in the period between 2008 to 2015. Now we are here with a court order, because from March 8 until now, we waited for them to voluntarily hand over the documents concerning the surveillance and wiretapping, but they refused. We’re working to find out who actually conducted the wiretapping, whether it was UBK, or foreign services. Chavkov is present today (the Director of the Public Security Bureau, Mitko Chavkov) although I do not know on what grounds. Cooperation has been difficult, but my investigative team and I will stay here until we finish our job”, said Janeva.

She also said that her and her team will work in shifts, as currently, in UBK there are only three members of her team, but more prosecutors are expected to arrive to join the investigation.
