Janeva: VMRO-DPMNE through criminal activities and blackmail remained in power for lucrative reasons

-

In the last ten years, the ruling party abused the electoral process for lucrative incentives to remain in power, said Special Public Prosecutor, Katica Janeva in an interview with “Deutsche Welle”.

“Moral values in Macedonian society are in disarray. We saw this in the way this government ruled in the last ten years, and we heard it publicly and in the calls which were not published (wiretapped conversations). Most importantly, the ruling party abused the electoral process for lucrative motives so they could stay in power. With criminal acts, they blackmailed financiers and legal entities to get funding to remain in power”, said Janeva.

When asked whether she expected former Prime Minister, Nikola Gruevski will be charged in court, Janeva said she hopes he will.

“We have to submit our indictments for which we have evidence, however, it is the court’s decision to bring a conviction or an acquittal. We are just prosecutor’s, our job is to gather evidence of certain criminal activities by certain individuals and prove that we are all equal in the eyes of the laws of Macedonia”, added Janeva.

The Special Public Prosecutor is convinced that the SPO as an institution, will continue its work until they have completed their mission, to investigate all the recordings.
